Addicted to Pain by Louisalings Addicted to Pain by Louisalings
Everything is quiet
Except for all the voices in my head
That say your name...

-

Ryoga, the vocalist of the Japanese rock band Born :heart:

This is a (very… veeery… embarrassingly late) commission for the ever-amazing Jeong ([link]) :hug: I am so sorry I made you wait so long… please forgive me ;A;

I don’t know why but my scanner was adamant on killing this drawing. The original drawing is smoother and the contrast between light and dark is bigger (the hair is A LOT whiter). I scanned it like a gazillion times and now I’ve just given up… :shrug:

Also, this is drawn after a super small reference photo and I added most of the details myself so... Please don't be too hard on it... ;____;

OBS: This is NOT edited in some photo-software program. This is a pure scan of the original drawing -it's only worsened by my stupid scanner- and it’s completely touch-free. I really hate when people automatically assume I've used Photoshop (or a similar program) to edit the details and contrast of my drawings. Just a little notion before anyone asks.

Medium; sketching pencils.
Time; forever and a day.
Size; A4 (8.3 inches × 11.7 inches).

Original drawing sold :)

the shading of the hair is impressive. It just looks real. And the dramatic kind of light of the face is awesome too, this is a great work.

May I ask, I have a problem with dark areas. How do you get such a smooth even black area. Its always a pet peeved of mine to see white slightly show through in areas of black in my drawings.

The detail in this drawing is so realistic. I honestly thought it was a photograph. Also, congrats on the detail in the hair, that's where I always fall short.

This is absolutely gorgeous...

Just noticing your comment there... it might not be a problem with your scanner so much as a problem with what format you're saving it in (For highest quality and detail, always save as a .PNG file, never .JPG, or you'll end up compressing and re-compressing your treasures.) and you most likely need to color gamut calibrate your screen. (most people's computers aren't displaying colors or contrast correctly and it really affects your artwork) SuperCal for Mac ([link]) is fabulous if you happen to be on a Mac... but I can't recommend a utility for PC calibration though, since I'm a Mac user...

Thank you so much :manhug:

I will definitely take your comment into account. I don't use Mac sadly, but I will maybe try to change the format I'm saving my scans in and colour gamut calibrate my screen as you suggested. Thank you for taking the time to tell me :)
